Adeline's Surgery

This past Friday we took Adeline in to get her umbilical hernia repaired. Some of you may remember that we were originally going to do the surgery when she was 3 months old, but the hernia had been shrinking so we delayed to see if it would go away on its own. It continued to get smaller but the doctors eventually decided it likely wouldn't go away on its own—plus there was a good deal of excess skin. The surgery went very well and it only lasted about 30 minutes. Adeline did very well and didn't experience any significant side effects from the anesthesia. She was up and playing (gingerly) later in the afternoon. The area is still tender and she doesn't like to see the bandages, but she's doing great. We are extremely happy and grateful for how well everything went. We'll post before and after pics once we're able to remove the bandages.

Just a picture of Adeline with all her necklaces and her new Baby Bop.

Here she is in her "special yellow jammies" waiting for the surgery. Thank goodness for those toys that helped distract her.

Our little trooper drinking her juice post-surgery. She did so good—and so did her mom!

I'm so glad that's done and over with. I didn't realize it was still an issue. Poor little thing. You can tell in that pic of her playing that a few tears had been shed! Congrats to the parents for getting through it as well. That's no easy feat to go through with your little tot. Hope you're feeling great, Erin! Can't wait to hear about your new little BOY!

Hey Devan. Long time!!! Our kids have like identical ages. My first little boy turned 2 in Sept. and now we are expecting boy #2 in January. They both are/will be like 1-3 weeks younger than yours. And man the one we have is a blast. I'm glad your family is doing well. Your lucky to have a boy name picked out, cuz we can't think of a good one to save our lives. Well our blog is jokepeterson if you want to check up on us. I will now frequent yours. Later dude!
