Adeline's Surgery

This past Friday we took Adeline in to get her umbilical hernia repaired. Some of you may remember that we were originally going to do the surgery when she was 3 months old, but the hernia had been shrinking so we delayed to see if it would go away on its own. It continued to get smaller but the doctors eventually decided it likely wouldn't go away on its own—plus there was a good deal of excess skin. The surgery went very well and it only lasted about 30 minutes. Adeline did very well and didn't experience any significant side effects from the anesthesia. She was up and playing (gingerly) later in the afternoon. The area is still tender and she doesn't like to see the bandages, but she's doing great. We are extremely happy and grateful for how well everything went. We'll post before and after pics once we're able to remove the bandages.

Just a picture of Adeline with all her necklaces and her new Baby Bop.

Here she is in her "special yellow jammies" waiting for the surgery. Thank goodness for those toys that helped distract her.

Our little trooper drinking her juice post-surgery. She did so good—and so did her mom!

Fall Update

Hello again. School is back in full swing for me which means busy days of studying, intramural soccer and football, and of course, BYU football on the weekends. I am having a great time and can't believe how fast the time is flying by. Erin is about 30 weeks along and doing great. For those of you who don't know yet, we are having a boy and plan to name him Milo. He is doing great and seems to be right on schedule for a New Years arrival. Adeline continues to learn and grow every day. We are constantly surprised by the funny things she says.

On Saturday I had the chance to do what is known as the Human Slingshot. It was super awesome!

In August Adeline turned 2.

She was a little unsure about the birthday candles, but she caught on pretty quick.

We went camping in August and of course we threw some rocks into the river.

She's growing up very fast.

She already loves to drive the car, but 16 is a long ways away.

She loves to play cool dude with my glasses.

Adeline loves her books and this is what Erin found one day after getting ready for the day.

She'll even read an occasional book to Teddy.

We definitely think she's adorable.

She loves to play running, chasing, and hiding games.

Catching some BYU football.

Adeline loves Grandma & Grandpa Porter's new parachute.

The pregnant sisters are both doing great.
